I am not sure how I was really introduced to TRX, but I think it was when I read the book Cardio Strength Training by Coach Dos Remedios (and yes, he is a badass). Since that day, I have tried to incorporate TRX into my overall fitness program.
TRX is the brain child of Randy Hetrick who created the first TRX suspension system when he was a Navy Seal Commander. His original version was based on using a jiu jitsu belt and parachute webbing back in 1997. Since then he has refined the design and created a juggernaut of a company with additional products and courses.
My family and I now own two sets of TRX which we use on a very consistent basis. I am so impressed with the benefits of the device that you could call me an evangelist for the product. Everywhere I go, I espouse the convenience, benefits, and experience I get from TRX. My mission is to help others gain the same from this training device that my family and I have. NOTE: TRX is not paying me for this endorsement…I believe in the product that much.
I will highlight the very reasons I feel “Why TRX Is the Ultimate Piece of Gym Equipment”.
1. 70 Different Body Exercises
TRX offers an individual over 70 different body exercises to choose from. Now I know what you are thinking, body weight exercises…really…how can those help help with my fitness program? I thought the same way as you - at first. I have been a hard core weights guy for most of my life…until I met TRX. This is one hell of a workout even though you are just using your body for the weight. Not only are you getting a great muscle workout, but it is an excellent tool for cardio and stamina.
There are many different ways to find information on exercise routines for TRX. When you purchase a unit, you now qualify for a one-year app subscription (I am jealous) that features over 80+ curated workouts. What a great bonus! They also provide specialized TRX Training programs for sale that cover everything from incorporating Kettlebells to Yoga. Also, you can find an endless supply of material on Youtube for training content.
As a salesman I travel often and sometimes find myself at a hotel which may not have the best exercise facility. With the TRX device, I am able to pack this little baby up in my suitcase, attach it to my hotel room door, and viola! Instant gym. You can hook it to almost anything thing that is a permanent structure: a door, a piece of gym equipment, even a tree limb. The beauty of this unit is its ability to be available at a moments notice.
This is what I love the most about this piece of equipment - the ability to incorporate other exercises in with it. My wife and I utilize it in our cardio strength training routines by making TRX either a small part of the routine or a larger part depending on our mood. One of the things I like to do when working out together is to have one person run on the treadmill during the time the other person is completing three different exercises with TRX. Then we switch off and do that for three rounds. I assure you that it will be a rewarding sweat.
This is beyond what words can describe. I use the TRX device to stretch 3-5 times a week. It is great for every body part (especially the back and legs) and works very well for the hard to get places. Most of the time I incorporate a Yoga type of position with it; allowing me to really concentrate on a problem area that needs attention.
Since TRX is international, there are many others enjoying the benefits of TRX who can share their tips, tricks, and experiences with you. Many books, blogs, and websites touch upon the use of TRX and offer great information. And speaking of community, when I find another person using TRX we have a conversation starter and share an instant bond.
Thank you for joining me this week to learn more about TRX. I encourage you to look into purchasing one that you can use throughout your lifetime.
